Our stair treads have rounded bull nose on the front. You'll appreciate it that if you have ever stubbed your toe on a straight-flat edge. Ouch. Our discount stair treads have a V shape cut in the bottom the whole length of the tread to relieve the stress the wood to keep it from bowing, cupping or twisting. When shopping for a stair tread, it's a good idea to look for this V groove in them. Our Wood Stair Treads are made from Southern Yellow Pine and are clear- that means minimal knots. It's kiln dried after treating. Customers ask us "How long before I can stain or treat my stair treads?" Since ours come to you already kiln dried, we recommend you not dally and get them treated or stained right away. |

How to Install Stair Treads- some free advice:We tell our customers to install the step stringers by fastening to your porch, resting the other end of the stringer on the ground. Once you have your step stringers in place, then fasten the treads by using L brackets on the bottom of the tread. Or, running screws through the tread into he step stringer. After installing the stair tread, place board on back of step stringer to prevent things from falling through or between the treads. If you are looking into stair tread replacement, we recommend you first check your stringers. Be sure that your stringers are not rotting out. You don't want to replace just your stair treads if the stringers are no good. |
